November Update!

October came and went. It really doesn’t even feel like Fall because the weather has been so warm. I’m not complaining!!

This month I️ participated in a lot of outreach. I️ started off the month at a prayer and worship night for upcoming outreach events at UTD. It was encouraging to be amongst students who were excited about intentionally sharing their faith on campus.

Our theme this is year is “Send Me” and along with that, our students have truly been rising to the challenge of praying for God to send them. They have also been faithful in looking for opportunities in ways God wants to use them.

I also spent a lot of time doing Campus Conversations on the SMU Campus. Campus Conversations is a term that we used to describe one of our contact evangelism methods. We approach random students and ask if they would be open to having a spiritual conversation with us. The goal of these conversations is to engage with people about their faith or spiritual backgrounds and hopefully initiate a new friendship. I am not naturally an outgoing person so the thought of doing this was pretty intimidating, but most people are quite open to talking about their spiritual backgrounds.

Later on in the month, we had a Worship Night during our weekly small group meeting at SMU. The structure differed slightly from our typical weekly discussion because we spent more time in song but it was a nice change of pace.

The vision for the night was to center on who God and Jesus are and why we serve them. We discussed God’s character from the Old Testament; reading about His faithfulness and taking time to think through ways in which we’ve seen God’s faithfulness in our own lives.

We also read scripture about Jesus and how God continued to show His faithfulness in the New Testament with the covenant established through His Son.

I️ want to leave you with one of the verses we read as an encouragement for you to be reminded of God’s character and how He remains unchanging.

"Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments."
Deuteronomy 7:9

Thank you for all of your continued support and prayers!

  1. Hey Dawn! Thanks for sharing about your ministry. I love that you are spending time going out and starting spiritual conversations with people on campus. How have those gone? Have any new people gotten involved through that?
I am so excited for everything happening at SMU! I love the discussion topic of God's unchanging character in Old and New Testaments. What a deeply moving truth to discuss with those students. Keep it up! Love you Dawn!!
