January Update!

And just like that another year has come to a close! 2017 was very eventful and I'm excited to see what 2018 holds!

I want to thank everyone for all of the support with our annual fundraiser Keep FOCUS Growing. It was amazing to see so much generosity from so many people! I was very encouraged and I know everyone else on our staff was encouraged as well by how many people choose to invest FOCUS' vision of bringing God's kingdom onto college campuses in the DFW metroplex.

We had two Christmas events in the month of December. The first was our Christmas party hosted for all of the students who attend our Dallas campuses. Every year the cores put together skits and perform them. The winning group receives a Visa gift card for a core party!

It was so fun to see the creativity that some of groups put behind their skits and the cores enjoyed collaborating with their friends and performing in front of the community.

The second Christmas event was our Christmas devotional service which took the place of our normal Friday Night Fellowship. The weather is always so up and down in Texas and this December was no exception. We were hoping that for the night of our Christmas devotional the weather would be miraculously warm; unfortunately that wasn't the case. However that did not stop us from having our devotional outside at the Plinth (an area outside the Student Union at UTD). We bundled up and huddled together and sang songs praising and celebrating the birth of our Savior. It was so so cold! But somehow suffering through the frigid weather made it that much more special. This service was definitely the most memorable one I've ever been to!

In less than one week we our biggest event of the year, WINTER CAMP! I ask that you would pray for a few things for our time at camp.
  • Students would have their hearts open to how God is speaking to them throughout the weekend and that they would be listening for His voice
  • Students would deepen their established friendships and be willing to form new friendships
  • Safe travels for all of our students and staff, as well as our speakers who will be flying in from Washington state
  • Comfortable weather
  • That everyone would have fun!

  1. Hey Dawn!
I love that you guys had outdoor Christmas worship. It may have been cold, but what a neat witness to that campus. You are showing people at UTD that Christians are willing to brave the winter chill to praise Jesus!
Can't wait to see you at camp. Love you!
